Production blog!

Image
Hey viewers! we’ve been working really hard to piece together our scenes. We have decided to reshoot some of them in a different location because we don’t think the place we chose for our initial scene was authentic enough, it looks too fake for what we are trying to go for, which is a detectives office. Our idea for the  case files is mainly editing which we still have to figure out how to splice together. we’re thinking about using a series of templates to help us complete this. We want it to resemble a criminal tv show where they zoom in on different parts of the file with photos and descriptions with suspenseful music to fit the thriller genre. We are really hoping we are able to execute this idea properly through the editing tool we are using because it gives the opening sequence context for the plot. I hope you guys are looking forward to it! See you soon!

Production Blog- Editing!

Image
Hey guys! So previously I mentioned that my group and I have started editing, we have been using CapCut for this process and have chosen our music and aligned it with our scenes. We’re really looking forward to any changes we can make to make it better because there’s always room for improvement, we have been considering changing up some of the scenes and their orders. We also have been looking back at the editing and might be considering altering some of the way we shoot our scenes, because we want them to be more authentic for the genre. Hope you guys enjoy!

Production Blog: Our Editing

Image
Hey guys! We’ve filmed some portions of our opening sequence and have decided to order them correctly on CapCut which we’ve used previously, so we are familiar with the technology and all we have to do when we are completely finished filming is to add in our music that we chose. We want to edit in a similar fashion that other thriller and detective based shows have been filmed. Our shots resemble a lot of familiar shows we’ve see and the movies we watched to know how to shoot our final task. We will show people as we film more to get their opinion on if they think it aligns with the genre. Enjoy guys!!

Filming Blog: Our Music

Image
Hey guys! Me and my partner have been thinking over our music and soundtrack for the opening sequence. We’ve been thinking about making the music mostly suspenseful to align with the theme of our thriller. We want the suspicion of the plot of the detective being the killer to be subtle so we want it to be lightly suspenseful. We’ve been looking for royalty free music on youtube but we want a very specific kind of music. We’ve found several options that we want to use but we won’t chose our music until we’ve finished filming to see what mixes well what we have all of our scenes. There was only two that really fits with the classic “detective” music that you would see in movies or tv shows that are similar to our idea. Hope you guys are looking forward to it?

Filming Blog: Our Process!

Hey viewers! We’ve been looking into more locations for certain scenes, we’ve gotten some filming done but are still trying to find the perfect angles and shots for each scene to align with the thriller genre. We want to look into the genre a little more into the genre to make our opening sequence as authentic as possible while keeping the mystery of the plot, that being that the detective is the killer. We have had a lot of inspiration for our opening sequence from our favorites movies. I’ve gotten a lot of great scenes to base our scenes off of and i’m really looking forward to building it to the potential it can meet :) See you guys soon!

Filming Blog: Starting to film!

Image
Hey guys! We recently got our polaroid situation figured out with our case files. We have to actually take the photos which again will be difficult considering we chose photos that will have to be mimicked in real life to incorporate into the case files. We’ve started mapping out the rooms we want to use and the locations for our opening sequence. We need an executive looking office for the initial scene which we can’t really fake with one of our desks in our room, so we’re looking for a location that looks more like an office. My group partners dad has an office which we might use, as well. We’re really looking forward to starting and getting everything finalized :) See you guys next time!

Filming Blog: Working on Our case files!

Image
Hey guys! We’ve been doing a lot of behind the scenes work but so far we’ve had to figure out a lot of the details of the opening sequence. Our case files that are featured frequently, have a ton of media including polaroids that we wanted to make look authentic as possible, to mimic a real detectives case file. There are roughly 10 polaroids we need to take to go along with the storyline and this part has taken us the longest so far. Polaroid film isn’t as easily edited as a regular phone camera, meaning we have to try our best to get the perfect shot so that we don’t have to retake it and waste film. Polaroid film is somewhat hard to manage if you’re unfamiliar with both the film itself and the camera. There are light setting on the camera that, if not adjusted properly, will ruin the photo. This can make the photos either pitch black or bright white without the development of the actual photo. We’ll update you guys with anything new coming soon!

Filming Blog: Starting Our Process

Hey viewers, we haven’t started filming yet but we have a lot of preparation to do in the mean time. Our sequence will feature smaller polaroid pictures inside of the case file, so before we can actually film using those photos, we need to take the photos to make them fit the description of the case file. We are working out the locations for our scenes such as an office, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. Obviously those are easy to come by considering they are easily accessible to us, the office on the other than, we want to look like an authentic corporate office to resemble the chief of police’s office, which is the only thing holding us back currently and is in our very first shot. We’re really excited about the storyline and are hoping to make it look as real and authentic as possible. We will be filming very soon and will update you guys with any new adjustments or possible changes. I hope you guys enjoy :)
